NETZABERG, Germany — Netzaberg Elementary School marked Fasching with a vibrant schoolwide celebration that combined cultural learning, student creativity and community participation.

The event, themed “Can’t Stop That Feeling!,” engaged every student through coordinated activities led by large group specialists. In the weeks leading up to the celebration, students prepared across multiple content areas, integrating art, music, physical education and host nation studies.

In art classes, students created colorful troll-themed headbands that reflected the playful spirit of the event. Throughout the school, hallways were filled with bright designs as students proudly wore their handmade creations.

During host nation instruction, students explored the traditions and history of Fasching, a festive season widely celebrated throughout Germany with costumes, music and parades. Lessons focused on the cultural significance of the celebration, helping students strengthen their understanding of the local community and host nation customs.

Music and physical education classes incorporated Fasching songs and dances, building anticipation for the culminating event. Students practiced their routines and prepared to showcase their learning during a schoolwide parade.

The celebration concluded with a lively parade around the school grounds. Students marched, sang and danced, led by the Netzaberg Middle School Band. Along the parade route, the Netzaberg Elementary Zirkus Club performed circus acts that energized the crowd and added to the festive atmosphere. Families and partnering units gathered to cheer on participants, reinforcing the strong connection between the school and its community.

The Fasching celebration highlighted collaboration among staff, student engagement and cultural appreciation within the school environment.
