Netzaberg Elementary Launches Safety Patrol Club to Keep Students Safe

A new club at Netzaberg Elementary is putting safety first with the launch of its Safety Patrol program. Comprised of students in grades 2 through 5, the club was created by students who expressed a strong desire to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone at the school.
Led by Mrs. Katie Northam-Hall, the safety patrol students play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and organization of the school, particularly during inclement weather such as rain, snow, and cold. While their duties may seem straightforward, their responsibilities are essential for helping all students travel to and from school safely.
One of the safety patrol’s primary tasks is assisting students as they arrive at school, especially on rainy or snowy days. Members help younger students out of cars, guide them toward the entrance, and offer friendly encouragement. Their presence ensures that students manage umbrellas, coats, and backpacks while keeping the mood positive.
The safety patrol’s role extends beyond weather-related duties. Patrol members are vigilant, looking out for classmates who may need extra help, whether it’s ensuring a younger student crosses the street safely, reminding peers to walk, not run, or helping students find their classrooms. They also support the school’s positive behavior system by handing out dragon reward tickets to students who follow safety rules.
The program also teaches important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and responsibility. Safety patrol members are trusted with important tasks and take their role seriously. By helping their peers, they learn the value of dependability and develop a sense of pride in their contributions to the school community.
The safety patrol’s teamwork and dedication make a significant impact on daily routines, contributing to a safer and more organized school environment. Thanks to their hard work, Netzaberg Elementary’s halls are a safer place for all students.
